Bio of Pastor Trevor Whittingham
Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Trevor immigrated with his family to Toronto in the middle of a freezing cold January when he was 14. The first thing he did after putting on his new winter coat and snow boots was make snowballs to throw at his brother and little sister.
A fellow Jamaican Canadian, Mr. Allen, offered to drive them to Runnymede Baptist Church in the church bus. Trevor made friends and joined the youth group for floor hockey, volleyball, and teens intense in growing in their faith.
At 17, on a Good Friday, by himself in his bedroom, God broke through his defiant, selfish heart and showed him his need to surrender to the one true God.
After working at Yonge Street Mission in downtown Toronto, Regent Park area. Trevor pursued a career in social service work with Children’s Aid and Griffin Centre. At church, he worked with men, kids, youth and families, to overcome difficulties in their lives and grow in the Lord. At work, he was increasingly frustrated in connecting his Christ centred understanding with secular practice. Through confirmation from trusted leaders and fellow believers, he took up the challenge to study at Tyndale Seminary (MTS) in order to bridge his Christian faith with his work. Through this process Trevor answered the call to service God in full-time ministry.
Trevor’s passion is to serve the church by shepherding, developing, equipping and empowering believers to minister to each other and to broken people through the power of Jesus Christ and his love for us.
Trevor is married to Evaleen, and they are the proud parents of three adult children, Joshua, Hannah and Charissa and daughter-in-law, Gina. Trevor is an avid sports fan who particularly loves the Blue Jays. He will try to get to as many games as he can, in Toronto or Dunedin. He also loves woodworking, reading, walking, and cooking up Jamaican Jerk Chicken with Rice and Peas.
Philippians 1:6 …Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
We welcome Alex Dlugokecki who has generously stepped forward to fulfil the role, on an interim basis, as praise & worship leader for our Sunday Worship Service.
We appreciate Erica, Alex's wife for lending Alex's time and talents to the music ministry of FBCI. AND we thank Jillian, Henry & Cassidy for being enthusiastic to lend some of their dad's precious time necessary for song searches, meditation over the music selections & practice sessions.
A noteworthy chapter closed @ First Baptist Church Ingersoll:
For the past five plus years we have been blessed with the awesome contribution of multi-musical talented Kiley-Joe Masson. We enjoyed our last official Sunday together May 15, 2022.
Our Sunday worship service has been a hallowed hour, in part, due to his gift of leadership in praise & worship. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, were it not for Kiley's skill-set, we would not have been able to code our church website to accommodate the essential on-line LIVE worship ministry to sustain the fellowship and outreach to our community despite the effects of provincial lock-down rules. With his Sound Engineering qualifications & experience, Kiley afforded us to establish broadcast quality sound and video production from within the walls of the Baptist Tabernacle Sanctuary.
We pray God's richest blessings upon Kiley in the pursuit of his vocation and know that he will enrich any enterprise fortunate enough to engage him. We also say hurrah! to his awesome family, wife Lindsay, & sons, Grayson & Sterling as they continue their holy pursuit of joy in the journey with God and fulfilment in His providence for their household.
